What does it mean to be a bird, and what does it mean to listen to one? "Birds and Us" is a site-specific performative soundwalk that explores human coexistence with birds through collective walking and storytelling. Guided by an audio narrative made in collaboration by birdwatcher Bjørn Penk, performance maker Gosia Trajkowska, and sound artist Agata Lech, participants move together through shifting landscapes, while attuning to birdsong, silence, and the textures of the environment.

Blending reflection on cultural heritage, ritual, and inter-species care, the work considers how birds (and stories around them) shape and are shaped by the worlds we share. As urban and ecological conditions transform, the walk opens space for attention and responsibility, proposing listening as a way to rethink our place within more-than-human life.

Birds and Us is a piece created specifically for tonehimmel, in collaboration with the local community in Volda.
