How to hunt for cultivated meat

Medium: Installation

Location: Hlemmur, Reykjavík, Iceland

How do humans sustain their hierarchical position above other live animals in a world where meat is produced in laboratories?

In 'How to hunt for cultivated meat™', I brought a speculative scenario to 'life' through the developent of a method (hunting cultivated meat in grocery stores), a tool (the knife of the future butcher) and a space (the hunting grounds). To exhibit this scenario, I presented a fur-covered filet of cultivated meat artificially kept alive by an electric motor. Alongside this artifact, was a written how-to-guide, a seasonal permit for hunting cultivated meat, the knife, and a proposed blueprint of Krónan as a hunting ground.

Representatives from Krónan, the meat cultivation industry and agriculture sector were present during the exhibtion opening, creating the ground for an interesting conversation about what makes meat 'meat'.
